Big Band Tartu will give a concert in Ogre, Latvia

On 16th of February 2008 Big Band Tartu and Salvador Sax Quartet will participate in concert in Ogre (Latvia), which will open celebrations of Ogres 80th birthday. With estonian bands audience can listen also Wind Band "Horizonts" from Ogre, Wind Band of Jazepa Mediņa music school from Riga and ja vocal ensemble "Mik-8".

Contact with latvians started thaks to Dutch conductor Bert Langeler, who have been in front of orchestras of Ogre and Tartu and have been participated in work of Big Band Tartu as a trumpet player in year 2006. So, when Ogres conductor Vilis Kokamegi asked from him a suggestion, he didn't think long.

On concert Big Band Tartu will perform classics of jazz like "Days of Wine and Roses", "Night and Day", "Summertime", "Tea for Two", "'s Wonderful", "Boogie Wonderland" etc. Big-Band will be conducted by saxophonist Lirike Vaher, soloist will be Kreet Stubender (voice), Raul Taremaa (guitar), Lirike Vaher (alto sax) and Toomas Peterson (tenor sax).

With four pieces will perform also Salvador Sax Quartet (Lirike Vaher - soprano, Maret Melesk - alto, Roland Mällo - tenor and Toomas Peterson - bariton), playing good estonian music from Ehala, Villu Kell and Ott Kask.

As a result of this concert tour the wind band from Ogre will participate in 4th international wind music festival "Mürtsub Pill (Cheering Horn) 2008" on 20th-23rd of August.
