HAPPY BIG BAND WEEKEND 30-31.03.2019 in Tartu

Big Band Tartu met a lot of guest conductors and other big bands during all the years of activity, with whom we continued to communicate. So we know our sommon interests, wish to lissen and share eachothers music and ideas, like to meet and study something new. Thatfor we organize 5th International Happy Big Band Weekend 30th-31st of March 2019 in Tartu, Estonia.

Star of this weekend will be Mr. Petri Juutilainen - composer, conductor, trombonist and teacher from Finland. Our important international guest will be JVLMA & RDKS Big Band from Latvia (leader of the band is saxophonist, flutist and composer Davis Jurka). JVLMA (Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music) and RDKS (Riga Dome Choir school) Big Band is created in january of 2018 and consists of students from jazz department and other students from both schools.

Our very important Estonian guest will be a new Estonian professional big band New Wind Jazz Orchestra founded by Young Jazztalent of festival Jazzkaar 2018 Mr. Lauri Kadalipp. Orchestra combines virtuoso playing from the best players from Estonia with young and bold temperament through a clear, professional angle. In Tartu they will perform first time and their program is delicated to saxophonist, composer, arranger and conductor Mr. Raul Sööt.

From local forces will help us Tartu Levimuusikaorkester and Big Band of Eller Music ShoolBig Band Tartu as organizer has pleasure to work with Mr. Petri Juutilainen and prepare a program of Finnish music.

NEW WIND JAZZ ORCHESTRA combines virtuoso playing from the best players from Estonia with young and bold temperament through a clear, professional angle. This new big band has been brought together to improve and carry on the big band tradition in Estonia, playing concerts, collaborating with big band leaders and conductors from Estonia and beyond the borders. This big band is playing new and fresh pieces from the composers and arrangers in Estonia but also specially ordered pieces from abroad. 

Their program is delicated to saxophonist, composer, arranger and conductor Mr. Raul Sööt.
